May 25, 2021 is 145 Day in Dallas!
Hunger Busters launches The 145 Campaign to combat childhood food insecurity in the Dallas Independent School Districts. The number 145 represents the 145,000 children that DISD estimates go to bed without their third meal of the day.
On May 25, 2021, 145 Day, officially mandated by former Mayor Rawlings, Hunger Busters is asking that every Dallas citizen and city leader show their support, come out to volunteer, and pledge $14.50 a month or a one-time donation with the numbers 145 ($1.45, $14.50, $145…) to help put an end to child hunger in Dallas.
“The 145 Campaign will be the first of its kind to solve a major problem in Dallas. This campaign will be the blueprint to solve childhood food insecurity for other cities in Texas and even nationally,” said Trey Hoobler, CEO of Hunger Busters. “When students are fed a healthy meal, test scores improve, school attendance and behavioral issues decrease. Furthermore, with Hunger Busters providing the meals for other great nonprofit organizations they are able to use their resources in other ways to help children.”.
May 25, 2021, from 9 am to 4 pm. Hunger Buster’s kitchen located at 3116 Sylvan Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75212. Donations can be given at www.The145Campaign.com.
